Scuba Regulators & Scuba Regulator Repair

What Does It Do
Scuba regulators convert high pressure air drawn from your tank to a pressure equal to the surrounding environment so that you may breathe it. Additionally the regulator is periodically used to deliver air to other items such as your Buoyancy Compensator (BC) inflator.

Average Cost
$200 to $1500+

How To Select
The primary consideration when selecting a scuba regulator to purchase is comfort and fit when diving. Fit and comfort may be very different between trying one on in a shop environment versus real world diving experiences. You should evaluate and directly try as many regulators as possible before purchasing. Discuss the various selections with your dive shop professional who has experiences with the different brands and functions such as diver knobs and switches. Often this will provide an opportunity to rent and try various types while diving before buying a regulator.

Performance is frequently a factor measured by the regulators ability to draw a high volume of air at depths or low tank pressures. Consider your typical dive habits and enviroments when selecting the right regulator for you and if you need a more expensive high performance model.

Service & Care
After diving your regulator should be cleaned to remove any salt and sand that may have accumulated. Salt can promote corrosion of metal and salt or sand on valves can cause your regulator to leak. Click here for step by step directions to clean your regulators after diving.
